Running for Tom

On October 17, 1999 Catherine Belcastro ran a 26.2 mile marathon (Toronto) in Tom's memory in order to help raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund of Canada. Although Catherine had never known Tom, she learned of his 'story' from her coworker Sandra, who is also Tom's mother-in-law. Their employer, Oxford University Press agreed to match all pledges made by the employees. Catherine raised an incredible $3,500 for the Leukemia Research Fund!

Catherine later had her finisher's medal engraved in Tom's memory and presented it to Kathy, who was most touched by this gesture.

All of Tom's family were greatly moved by having Catherine run in Tom's memory, particularly because Tom himself ran daily as part of his own fitness regime.

It helps to heal the hurt of losing Tom when we know that he lives on in the hearts and spirits of others.... Thank you Catherine!
